Client background

Our client (under NDA) is an international company that offers smart telematics solutions for efficient fleet operation and management. It specializes in enterprise-level remote encryptor management solutions. They enable administrators to visualize and manage devices — including their health, status, and connectivity.

Business challenge

The client was looking for an experienced partner who would assist in creating a solution in a short time frame. This was required to achieve certification in Canada and establish new partnerships there. Therefore, the N-iX team was selected as an R&D partner to implement a full-stack IoT solution for industrial fleet tracking and management.

N-iX approach

We started our cooperation with detailed research and feasibility studies. N-iX provided full-cycle product development services to the client, including product feature assessment, solution architecture design, and full-scale implementation and support. Currently, our team works on the development of an OEM-based Linux connectivity gateway and an Android-based app.

Implementation

Gateway development. N-iX engineers contributed to the development of an OEM-based Linux connectivity gateway. This gateway is installed in a vehicle for monitoring and managing activities tracked by a GPS system. The data is transmitted from each vehicle to the owner and converted into useful information. This information is easily monitored, analyzed, and stored for future reference. The system enables its users to access a range of important details, including vehicle traveling speed, fuel consumption, engine efficiency, and more. Also, our team helped integrate the system with existing customer products. We completed system integration with a Google Cloud-based IoT platform with a complex analytics engine.

New solution development. The N-iX team plays an important role in the development of an Android app for rugged tablets with a management panel available for the driver. A custom IoT platform has been developed with the help of GCP IoT Cloud tools, including messaging, device onboarding, connectivity control, and user control.
