N-iX started out as Novellix — a product startup founded by Andrew Pavliv (N-iX CEO), Dmytro Kosarev, and Werner Richard Kreiner back in 2002. Novellix was developing Novell’s product applications for the Linux platform. The company got attention from Novell’s top management, so Novell acquired the technology from Novellix and became the first big customer of re-branded N-iX, a software development service company.
Since then, N-iX has built a strong presence across Europe and the Americas, helping world’s leading organizations turn challenges into lasting business value, operational efficiency, and revenue growth using advanced technology. Three partners started Novellix (later N-iX) in an attempt to create software for Linux that would allow to work with Novell NetWare® and GroupWise®. They named the company Novellix, combining words Novell and Linux.
Novellix (later N-iX) fully developed the software and made the prototype available for downloading within half a year. This was noticed by the management at Novell, who had long ago seen the trend and had been developing a strategy to approach Linux. Novell decided to acquire the technology and to develop it further with the development team at Novellix (later renamed to N-iX at Novell’s request). Therefore, Novell becomes the first company to partner with N-iX according the Dedicated Development Team/Center mode
First positive references appear and N-iX starts cooperation with new Customers to develop high-tech engineering solutions. N-iX launches Products Development Laboratory to research and produce solutions together with improvements for business processes. One of the initial products is a CD running N-iX Linux with connection to NetWare service.
By the reference from VP of Novell N-iX starts collaboration with StreamServe (now part of OpenText), a Swedish document presenter provider, and launches the long-term Dedicated Development Centre. This event shapes the whole future for N-iX , changing the focus of the company from simple software development to the model of Dedicated Development Centers. This transformation leads to an impressive list of short-term software and hardware projects accomplished. N-iX enters into the financial domain with MyForex Application by Finatek Dedicated Development Centre which allows nearly real-time processing and handling hundreds of messages.
New services such as Professional Services, QA and Maintenance are added into the R&D team of StreamServe at N-iX. Dynamic development of cooperation with StreamServe drives N-iX to launch a brand new service, Professional Services Crew for StreamServe. N-iX starts implementation of the Scandinavian business standards and approaches towards business management. This decision helps N-iX to grow with 2 new Scandinavian Clients.
Culture of innovations that is constantly cultivated at N-iX brings new interesting high-tech nearshore project from Mediornet an Austrian hardware engineering company. N-iX manages to finalize the delivery of full-cycle development services and starts Support Engineering Service of 2nd and 3rd lines with StreamServe. N-iX initiates transformation of the business model into the Cost+ to provide customers with easy and transparent explanations of the value and cost of their projects.
N-iX focuses on the existing Clients. Big attention is devoted to the quality of Services that were integrated during the last two years. N-iX makes a strong accent on management competencies. As a result, in one year N-iX becomes a Microsoft Certified Partner and SUN Associated Partner for its outstanding performance. High-tech focus brings N-iX new projects that require competence in the most progressive technologies both in hardware and software architecture. Therefore, N-iX is actively developing its engineering expertise to deliver cutting-edge solutions to its new Clients. N-iX invests in R&D growth and this enables the company to gain competencies in high-tech services delivery.
N-iX enters a brand new market of house controlling systems (a.k.a. smart house systems). The first 6 months pass very intensively: new office in Sweden, participation in CEBIT and various expositions demonstrating company expertise. N-iX enters deeply into the financial domain through the development of services and extension of cooperation with stock-exchange projects.
N-iX starts collaboration with innovative projects and invests into startups from the USA and Europe. An innovative application for mobile devices ThickButtons comes on the stage. Besides startups, N-iX launches the Professional Services Team for implementation of design for complete architecture of complex systems – Genpact. This client helps to define the business-model for own business operations based on the “Cost+” approach.
The largest Canadian software development company, OpenText, becomes an N-iX customer. Having mobile expertise, N-iX is selected by OpenText Mobile to run outsourcing services for its new acquisition breakthrough technology, Mobile Wave Platform. Along with big Clients services start to grow and projects evolve. The products complexity increases a possibility of inaccuracies and bugs. In order to maintain the high quality of services, N-iX opens a Test House. The Test House consolidates all the projects’ test teams under the same standards and methods to maintain consistency and structure in N-iX products. Apart from core activities, N-iX focuses on innovations and this passion leads the company to new experience with startups. As a result, this year brings 2 new startup Clients: Recorded Future and Meshin, a Xerox Funded Startup at Palo Alto Research Centre.
N-iX celebrates its 10 year anniversary. DDC model proves its efficiency and exceeds expectations since major Dedicated Development Teams in N-iX history keep their growth. Due to constant development of projects N-iX team grows to more than 140 professionals. In the upcoming year, N-iX anticipates an increase in teams and the rise of new interesting projects to gain new experience and expertise.
N-iX started collaboration with Currency Cloud, a UK financial technology company that owns and operates an international payments technology platform. The platform delivers FX conversion and payments as a cloud based web service and allows its customers to deliver any foreign exchange payments related service to one another simpler and at a lower cost than regular service providers. N-iX partnered with SCHAD, the owner of a technology that integrates IBM knowledge management system and meter data to monitor and control various processes from a cell phone. N-iX set up a team of developers for a US technology media startup that is building a powerful, cutting-edge platform that instantly connects people everywhere with thousands of professional journalists and original news content providers, fostering quality journalism and enabling faster, more effective decisions. N-iX started collaboration with Book2Meet, a Belgian company that makes meeting rooms bookable online.
N-iX developed and released an online booking platform together with and for Book2Meet. The platform allows users to find a meeting space nearby whether they are looking for a business center, a meeting room in a hotel, or the hidden gem of the city. N-iX started collaboration with 8 new companies that work in industries ranging from Financial Services and Communications to Document Processing. The companies include Orbus Software, Kodime,Top Connect, Debreuck Neirynck, b-to-v, Agilis, Addoro and Spamdrain. Client geography includes the UK, Belgium, Switzerland, Germany, Sweden and the Baltics.
N-iX opened a development office in Kyiv. N-iX became an authorized regional partner of OpenText, Canada’s largest software company and the most important SAP partner. The team of OpenText technical consultants at N-iX has been working in close cooperation with OpenText Professional Services team for eight years, and now it independently delivers product integration and support services. Since the beginning of 2015, N-iX established long-term partnerships with 8 companies. One of them is Cure Forward, a US-based biotech startup aimed at changing traditional approach to cancer treatment by using genomic testing data. Among others are: Mobile Trading Partners, a London-based company that delivers mobile apps, website UIs and widgets with a particular focus on FX; HotSchedules, an American company providing labor management solution in the restaurant industry and Linex Systems, a UK company, providing solution for current awareness management. Besides this, N-iX started collaboration with a Norwegian media group Schibsted in the area of web and mobile development and was engaged in several gaming projects. N-iX also started partnership with an established telecom company operating in 8 European countries and providing a wide range of services to migrant communities.
N-iX opened a delivery center in Krakow, Poland and a representative office in Tampa, FL, USA. The company became an authorized regional partner of Syntergy, a provider of innovative content lifecycle management solutions for OpenText Content Management (ECM) Software Suite. Now N-iX can provide Professional Services for Syntergy-based solutions helping OT Content Server users with enterprise data management. N-iX has increased its expertise to include Business Intelligence, Blockchain, UI/UX, Data Science, Big Data, AI and DevOps now offered to new and existing partners as stand alone services.
N-iX has demonstrated continuous growth and developed expertise in new services, technologies and industries. Due to the growth of its development centre in Kyiv, the company opened a new bigger office in the capital. In addition to numeral new partnerships, N-iX has started cooperation with a global Aviation Technology provider, Gogo, delivering data science and big data services. Also, the company complemented its Professional Services with SAP Consulting expertise. N-iX’s diverse experience in the most innovative technologies allowed the company to offer Digital Transformation services to its clients. The achievements didn’t go unnoticed, and thus N-iX won industry recognition and was listed among Top 100 Outsourcing Companies by IAOP.
N-iX formed new partnerships and strengthened the old ones, and thus the company grew to 900 people. New projects in media (TuneIn), agritech (Origin Enterprises), transportation (Bycyklen), telecom (MASMOVIL), and other domains helped us expand and deepen our expertise. We continued delivering value through our time-tested dedicated development team model as we helped our partners grow their engineering capabilities. New modern offices were opened in Lviv, Ukraine. N-iX increased its investments in the development of the Ukrainian IT industry, organizing hackathons, conferences, opening innovative labs and programs at local universities. We were happy to sponsor and participate in the first ever Ukraine House in Davos within World Economic Forum and also took an active part in the Ukrainian Week in London. Yet again N-iX was named Global Outsourcing 100 company by IAOP. As the company grew by 331% over the last three years, Inc. 5000 Europe listed us among the fastest-growing private companies in Europe.
In 2019, N-iX reached 1,000 people and opened new offices in Sofia, Bulgaria; Valletta, Malta; and Lviv, Ukraine. The company started a number of new partnerships and consolidated the existing ones. We started working with several Fortune 500 companies delivering projects in manufacturing, telecom, retail, finance, energy, supply chain, and other domains. For instance, we established partnerships with Weinmann (healthcare, Germany), iCabbi (automotive, Ireland), PrettyLittleThing (retail, UK), Locinox (manufacturing, Belgium), Globacap (fintech, UK), and more than 50 other clients. N-iX continued investing in the development of its expertise and service quality. Thus we launched Centers of Excellence - a community of professionals who foster professional development, share best practices, maintain top quality standards, and offer expert consulting to our partners. Also, the company regularly goes through quality and security audits, so in 2019, we complemented our ISO 27001:2013 and ISO 9001:2015 certifications with the SOC mapping to ISO: 27001. As an active member of local tech communities, N-iX took part in a number of conferences and tech events, such as IT Arena, Data Science UA, Garage 48 Hackathons, JS Fest, .Net Fest, Games Gathering, etc. For the third consecutive year, N-iX was named one of the best IT outsourcing vendors by IAOP. For N-iX, 2022 was the year of resilience, global expansion, continued growth of our tech partner ecosystem, and consolidation of our technology organization. Despite the global economic slowdown and increasing uncertainty, the company was able to show good growth, expanding our business with the existing clients and forging new partnerships. In 2022, we started cooperation with 43 new clients, grew by over 38% and reached 2,000 professionals. With our global presence strategy, we aimed to be closer to our clients and bring tech innovation and service excellence to them through a wider choice of delivery locations. Thus, we have significantly strengthened our operations in Poland reaching nearly 200 professionals, expanded our presence in Bulgaria, and opened our first Latin American development center in Medellin, Colombia. In 2022, we focused greatly on expanding and deepening our technological expertise. We’ve strengthened our tech organization and hired an experienced leader Valentyn Kropov as our CTO. Also, we continued building partnerships with the companies that shape our industry, such as AWS, GCP, Microsoft, and others. We partnered with Snowflake (an industry-leading cloud-based data platform), Nordic Semiconductor (leader in wireless connectivity for IoT systems), Automation Anywhere (a leader in RPA solutions), and Sisense (a global provider of an AI-driven data analytics cloud platform). With our biggest development centers located in Ukraine, one of the biggest challenges of the year was facing the Russian invasion. Thanks to careful business continuity planning as well as incredible resilience and dedication of our people, we were able to evacuate over 600 of our specialists from the affected territories and completely restore our service delivery levels within the first two weeks. Throughout the year, we continued to support our Ukraine-based specialists, local communities, and the Ukrainian people, standing for peace, justice, and universal human rights. 2022 also marked the 20th anniversary of N-iX. In 2021, N-iX grew by 60%, started cooperation with 60 new customers, and strengthened the existing partnerships. Among our clients are Fortune 500 leaders and large companies such as Seeking Alpha, Telit, Surprise.com, a renowned Swiss watch manufacturer, a global insurance company, a global tax services and software provider, and the world’s largest electric vehicle charging provider, to name a few.
N-iX service excellence was acknowledged not only by our clients but also by leading markets analysts and industry ratings. We were named a Rising Star in the 2021 edition of ISG Provider Lens™ , received top scores in Global Outsourcing 100 by IAOP for the fifth consecutive year, obtained Computing DevOps Excellence Award, and were listed No. 55 on the 2021 CRN Fast Growth 150 List. Also, we grew our partner ecosystem and became an AWS Advanced Consulting Partner and Wirepas Partner, received the AWS Data & Analytics Competency, AWS Kinesis and Amazon DynamoDB Designations, achieved Microsoft Gold Cloud Competency.
N-iX communities expanded to 22 regions of Ukraine and 13 countries across the globe, uniting over 1,700 specialists. Throughout the year, we actively hired new tech talent with over 200 positions open every month. Experienced leaders joined our team to strengthen multiple functions, including N-iX Technology Office (Dmytro Ovcharenko), Client Partnership (Halyna Dumych), People Operations (Oleksandr Shatnyy), and Industry Relations (Sviatoslav Kavetskyy). We continuously worked on improving our policies, processes and benefits and were recognized by the leading employer ratings. N-iX got a Silver award in the annual ‘Best Place to Work’ DOU rating, became one of the best employers in Ukraine, according to Forbes, and one of the top 20 IT employers, according to the EY Best Employer Survey.
In 2021, we continued supporting educational initiatives — funded teachers’ scholarships within ‘Teach for Ukraine’ project and scholarships for talented students of the UCU Faculty of Applied Sciences, designed and organized an Unreal Engine course for students of Lviv Polytechnic National University, sponsored multiple tech events, and more. Also, we continued COVID-19 support of our specialists and medical workers, so we organized vaccination for more than 1,000 N-iXers and their families, reimbursed the cost of PCR and IFA tests for N-iX specialists, provided insurance for healthcare professionals within the ‘United for health’ project, supplied over 2,100 units of medical equipment for healthcare workers, and more.
