The client ran its logistics operations on a monolithic internal platform. The architecture could not scale to match the business, and it blocked the rollout of new features and AI/ML microservices. With 600+ warehouses across 50+ countries, even a short outage or a delayed rollout on the existing platform carried real operational cost, SO the client needed a foundation to support full production-scale capabilities without disrupting operations already running.

Data platform modernization and AI/ML microservices
Alongside the platform rebuild, N-iX migrated the client's data infrastructure through three stages, moving from SQL to Azure Synapse and then to Databricks. On top of this modernized data platform, the team built and deployed 7+ AI/ML microservices. Two of these microservices now run in live production: a computer-vision system for cargo recognition, and a machine learning model that predicts estimated time of arrival (ETA) for shipments. The ETA model outperforms the client's third-party logistics service providers on prediction accuracy.
Headless commerce and ongoing partnership
N-iX also modernized the client's SAP Hybris B2B storefront, moving it to a headless architecture and rolling it out across multiple EU markets. Throughout the engagement, N-iX addressed the unknown business logic and regulatory and maintenance exposure carried over from the legacy monolith. A team of 100+ specialists across multiple streams has supported the partnership since 2020.
Six years is a long partnership by any measure, and the shape of the work changed as the relationship did, starting with a platform rebuild, then extending into data infrastructure, then into production AI/ML, and now into commerce. That progression is usually a sign the client kept finding new problems worth solving with the same team, rather than closing out a fixed-scope project.
