Yuriy is the Delivery Director for a unit of 150 professionals at N-iX. Uliana is the Head of Customer’s Engagement department. Today, their working days are full of important meetings, business trips, communication with the clients and different stakeholders and of course, challenges and responsibility. 4 years ago, these ambitious individuals were just starting their career path at N-iX.

What led them through their career journey and promoted impressive professional growth? Uliana and Yuriy found some time in their busy schedules to share the insights with us.

How did you start your journey at N-iX?

Uliana: I joined N-iX in 2015 as an engagement manager. Back then N-iX was much smaller, only 180 people, and the engagement department was a relatively new unit in the company. I loved that my role included involvement in all the stages of the presales process - from the initial contact with the client to final negotiations and closing the deal. For me, this was the biggest driver and biggest challenge at the same time.

Yuriy: I started working at N-iX in 2015 as a project coordinator of a small project and a small team. From the beginning, I was involved in client engagement, which helped me understand the nature of presales and support delivery management in it. My unit evolved fast as the new clients appeared, and existing ones grew with us.

What are your personal qualities that helped you to be successful?

Uliana: The first one is result orientation. The process, the time, and all the obstacles don’t really matter when you have to reach a goal. Also, I like raising high bars. You will not necessarily reach 100% of it, but with proper effort and persistence, you will definitely attain 80-90%. The higher the bar is, the better results you get. Last but not least, I have a motto that fits my approach to work and life: “Nothing is impossible, you just need to put enough effort to make it happen”.

Yuriy: The primary quality that helped me is positive thinking. When working with clients and teams, it is extremely important to stay positive and share this attitude with others. Other personal qualities that helped me are attention to detail, learning from failure, and lack of fear to take responsibility and ownership. My journey at N-iX helped me develop these skills and understand their importance.

List some of the biggest challenges you experienced in your career.

Uliana: One of the major challenges was the need to learn quickly and embrace the nature of the engagement manager’s profession. The day-to-day life of presales comes down to a very dynamic, fast-paced, and full of deadlines environment that goes with constant prioritization and multitasking. Customer engagement manager bears a lot of responsibility for the final result, and the outcomes often depend on the quality of efforts we make. It took me some time to accept the pressure and strengthen my skills to cope with it.

Yuriy: I see challenges as an integral part of my job. I work with many clients and teams. Every person is different, and developing an individual approach to everybody is a challenge. Overall, I believe that the more you challenge yourself, the more you grow. So I like to take on more responsibilities and tasks than I can handle at the moment. This helps me look for the most effective solutions, optimize processes, schedule, and communication to achieve my goal without compromising the quality.

Why do you think your success became possible at N-iX?

Uliana: I know many companies where management doesn’t give opportunities or trust in their employees. Gladly, in my life and at N-iX, in particular, I’ve had a totally different situation. Here you feel the support when you want to grow professionally. N-iX management doesn’t push its weight around but encourages its people to take the initiative, respond to challenges, and grow professionally. And this factor is crucial for me.

Yuriy: For sure, my career success became possible thanks to the people I work with. All of them are experts in their fields and are always open to sharing their knowledge and experience. Other factors are the trust of management in me and challenging tasks. One of N-iX values is freedom to innovate. The company welcomes initiative and encourages you to drive new ideas. For me, this creates a perfect culture fit essential for my career success.

What will be your advice to people who are just starting work at N-iX?

Uliana: Don’t be afraid to ask questions, strive for more and set ambitious goals. You can grow only when you go out of your comfort zone and start working in a non-standard environment. Your brains and skills are like muscles, so keep them toned.

Yuriy: Don’t be scared to fail. Turn failure into the tool for development. Develop yourself, your tech and soft skills, and your vision. N-iX offers excellent opportunities for growth and it’s a great place to succeed professionally.
