Imperator: Rome is the latest grand strategy game (GSG) developed by Paradox Development Studio and released in April 2019. Imperator: Rome returns the player to the start of the Imperial Era and offers to choose a nation to turn it into a splendorous empire, by sword and diplomacy. N-iX Game & VR Studio provided Game art production and 3D modeling for this project.
N-iX Game & VR cooperated Paradox Interactive with on their previous GSGs, including Stellaris, Europa Universalis IV and Hearts of Iron 4, that’s why they decided to continue and extend our partnership. One of the required tasks for Imperator Rome was to make a series of artworks performed as an imitation of a mural made on marble surface, to make stories about rebellious generals and ambitious politicians more believable.
In addition, Paradox Interactive required 3D modelling of ships, unique for every culture, and various cities represented on the global map.
Art Production. Paradox Interactive required N-iX Game & VR Studio to perform many artworks to illustrate in-game events and military traditions of different cultures, represented in the game. The key feature was to copy the antique style with its low contrast and a limited array of the colours, to make them look like murals on marble.
3D Modeling. Before following distinctive pipeline, N-iX team had to put some effort into the historical research. Our team managed to recreate the antique architecture of the past in models of towns, cities and various wonders, which didn’t live to see this day. N-iX team created a good deal of historically accurate models of ships, each with different construction and style, to represent fleets of in-game nations.
Let’s discuss your project and develop a common vision.
N-iX artists then take over and convert raw ideas into breathtaking visual content. We always give our creative best in line with the chosen style and genre.
